Associate Professor, University of Palermo.
Born in 1964 in Soufli (Greece). Graduated in 1989 in Agricultural Sciences at the University of Palermo. He obtained a grant by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1990 and 1991; he obtained a PhD in Agricultural Entomology, at the University of Naples “Federico II” in 1994. From 1995 to 2004 researcher at the University of Palermo and from 2004 to present Associate Professor at the same university. He taught Viticultural Entomology and Acarology and teaches Agricultural Entomology and of Agricultural Acarology and integrated control. Former member of the scientific board of the PhD in “Mediterranean fruit farming” of the University of Palermo. He organized the national conference entitled “Vineyards protection from harmful arthropods” in 2005 and the European Meeting of the IOBC / WPRS, entitled “Biological and Integrated Control in a Modern Viticulture” in 2007. Member of European Association of Acarologists (EURAAC ) since 1992, reviewer for various international journals and member of the editorial board of the journal Acarologia. Author and/or co-author of 78 scientific publications deals with Systematics of predatory mites of the family Phytoseiidae, bio-ethological studies on phytophagous and predatory mites, biological control of phytophagous mites and integrated control of insects and phytophagous mites associated with vine and olive crops.
