BIOGRAPHY

Born in Vinadio (Cuneo), Italy, 02.02.1955. Doctoral Thesis in Entomology and first-class degree in Natural Sciences at the Rome University “La Sapienza”, Italy.

Assistant Professor at Naples University, Italy (Department of Zoology)(1983/1992). Associate Professor in Animal Biology at Rome University “La Sapienza”, Italy (1992/2005) and Full Professor of Zoology (2005-present). Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy (2005/2006). Vice-president of the CAD in Nature Sciences (2018-present).

Author of some 350 scientific papers mostly published on international journals, and dealing with taxonomy, biogeography, evolutionary genetics, ecology and conservation biology of Coleoptera and Insects, including two important monographs on beetle taxonomy and two monographs on Animal Conservation Biology.

Group Coordinator of beetles in the Fauna Europaea EU project (http://www.fauna-eu.org/), and Member of the Steering Commettee. Responsible and Scientific Supervisor for the Sapienza Rome University of two EU LIFE Projects (2010-2017).

Since 2013 Editor-in-chief of the international journal “Fragmenta entomologica”, indexed by SCOPUS and Clarivate Analytics.
