BIOGRAPHY

University degree (BSc+Msc equivalent) with honours in Agricultural Sciences (1981) and Ph D in Entomology (1989) both from Alma Mater Studiorum, Bologna University. Project collaborator at the Ferrara Natural History Museum (insect samplings in the “Valli di Comacchio”) (1989-90) and at Crevalcore CAA (regional project of mosquito control in the” Parco del Delta del Po”, Emilia Romagna side) (1991-92). before becoming Researcher (1992-2000), and associate professor (since 2000), of Agricultural Entomology at the former Institute of Agricultural Entomology in Sassari (Sardinia). From 2002 to 2013 responsible of the Sassari local unit of the Institute of Ecosystem Study (National Research Council). In the academic year 2014-15, director of the Interdepartmental Biodiversity Centre of the Sassari University.
His first and main scientific interest is the study of Neuropterida (taxonomy, ecology, agricultural importance). He worked also on insect communities, mosquito control, science communication and history of the entomology. He has long been interested in organic agriculture and biological control.
